Christa Shouse promoted to President at United Way of Central Kentucky

United Way of Central Kentucky (UWCK) has announced that former Director of
Development Christa Shouse has been promoted to the position of President. Joe Fowler, who has been the organization’s President/CEO since February 2020, will continue in his capacity as CEO.
Shouse began her tenure with UWCK in 2012 and has consistently worked to ensure UWCK meets its goal of providing funding for community partners and instituting initiatives to face the unique needs of the region in the areas of education, financial stability and health and basic needs. She has twice served as interim President/CEO for UWCK, both in 2018 and in 2019, preceding Fowler’s selection.
“I am truly honored to take on the role of President at UWCK, an organization I have been
wholeheartedly dedicated to over the past 11 years,” Shouse said. “I’m also honored to continue
working alongside Joe Fowler, a truly visionary leader, amid this transition.”

Before taking on the role of President/CEO in 2020, Fowler previously worked with Elizabethtown
manufacturer Soudal for 28 years and served on several community boards, including the position of Chairman for the UWCK Board of Directors. During his tenure as President/CEO, Fowler led UWCK through the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that critical organizations and initiatives in UWCK’s service area continued to receive vital funding. As pandemic restrictions eased, Fowler spearheaded the launch of several initiatives to promote community engagement, including the establishment of the Community Garden program.
“Christa’s unwavering commitment to UWCK’s mission has been evident throughout her tenure and I can’t think of a better person to succeed me in the position of President,” Fowler said. “I look forward to our continued collaboration in this new chapter.”

UWCK recently kicked off their annual campaign, aimed at raising funds for partners encompassing a wide range of crucial community organizations and programs, from Warm Blessings to CASA of the Heartland to Silverleaf Sexual Trauma Recovery Services and many more. The organization is set to host a CommonGood on the Green Golf Classic fundraiser Sept. 22 at the Lincoln Trail Golf Course in Vine Grove and a Community Health Fair event on Sept. 23 on Williams Street in downtown Elizabethtown.
