VITA volunteers prepare tax returns for low-income working families in our community free of charge, helping them save hundreds and return thousands to our local economy. VITA sites open at the end of January and will remain open for service through mid-April. Volunteers don’t need prior tax knowledge, as training is provided. In addition, each site is equipped with a VITA Site Coordinator who can provide assistance as needed.

As mentioned, training is mandatory and is available online or in-person. In-person training details are as follows:

VITA Basic Training: Saturday, January 13th. 9:00am to 4:00pm EST.
Location: United Way of Central Kentucky, 604 N Main Street, Elizabethtown.

VITA Advanced Training: Saturday, January 20th. 9:00am to 4:00pm EST.

Powered by software that covers complicated returns and automatically screens for the Earned Income Tax Credit, MyFreeTaxes offers free safe and secure filing for individuals and families earning $66,000 or less in 2017. Beginning in February of 2018 and in partnership with Citizens Union Bank, filers will have access to ECTC's computer lab (room: RPC 201) to complete their 2017 returns.
