Host a VISTA

Bringing a VISTA to Your Organization
VISTAs are tremendous resources to the community, specifically in projects where they focus on Anti-Poverty Initiatives, Community Empowerment, Sustainability, and Capacity-Building. VISTAs perform indirect service, such as recruiting volunteers, writing grants, expanding current services, or starting new programs. According to Independent Sector, the value of a VISTA is approximately $58,600 per year.  We have seen even greater results on a local level, such as one VISTA who secured $1,000,000 in funding for her organization.
Before you consider applying for a VISTA, please review the following resources:

VISTA Advisory Committee
Applications will be reviewed by the VISTA Advisory Committee as required by Federal law.  This group must be made up of at least 50% representatives of the low-income community.  Prospective and current VISTA Sites may provide a volunteer for this Committee.  The Committee will make recommendations to UWCK who will select programs for final approval by the Corporation for National and Community Service
*We are always seeking community volunteers to serve on this Committee.  The group meets at least 2 times a year and plays an important role in guiding our region’s VISTA program.  Learn more here or contact for additional information.
